2/16/2024 0 Comments Mt dew code red![]() I actually make it a point to not have it all the time, though. And that’s why Code Red is my favorite soda and my favorite drink. You combine my favorite cherry flavor, with the right amount of citrus back-up notes to round it out, and apply the right amount of syrup to carbonated water for just the right flavor punch in the mouth. So, in the end, what do we have here? What we have, for me, is a perfect storm of awesome. I knew the first time I tried it that it was the absolute optimum mix for me, and I always made sure to savor it when I was there. ![]() That goes to the Clay Center Pizza Hut back when I lived in Kansas. Though, it’s not the best mix of Code Red I’ve ever had. The mix that they have in cans I find to be the most appealing of the mass-market ones. It is definitely there in your mouth, on your tongue, and you can definitely taste it. This drink has just the right “punch” of flavor to it. The next thing is the amount of flavor in the soda. It helps balance things out, and I like it a lot. Artificial cherry flavor doesn’t tend to have the tartness that a regular cherry might, but that’s replicated in the soda with some citrus to add some acid into the mix. What it also has is some back-up citrus notes. So, it’s got that right type of “cherry flavor” that I find appealing. But this is the quintessential “artificial cherry flavor.” (what’s funny is if you asked me to pick a favorite Jolly Rancher or Skittle flavor, it’d probably be orange) One doesn’t usually bite into an actual cherry and taste something that’s the same as Code Red or a Jolly Rancher or a Skittle or anything like that. And yes, in this case, I’m talking about artificial cherry flavor. Ok, so, why is my favorite flavor cherry red?įirst off, I just love the flavor of cherry. When I crack open the can, the smell of artificial cherry fills the air. The light red elixir that I know and love. It’s what we’re here for.īut before we get to that, we need to get to the pour.Īh, there we go. I’m not 100% sure I’ve succeeded, but let’s go for it anyway. As such, I’ve been spending the last 10 minutes or so trying to think about exactly -why- I love it so much so I can hopefully put it into words for you. When I popped open the can, poured it out, and gave it a taste, I knew -exactly- what I was going to get. So, what you’re getting here aren’t my first reactions to trying this drink. But if someone were to say, “Ok, so, every soda in the world but one suddenly vanishes, which one do you want to be left with?” I would say “Code Red” without missing a beat. That doesn’t mean it’s what I drink the most. This is, far and away, not only my favorite Mountain Dew flavor, not only my favorite soda, but my favorite drink. Case in point with this one: Mountain Dew Code Red. The vast majority of the sodas are the first time I’m giving them a taste. Almost all of the hot sauces are the first time I’m trying them. So, when I’m doing these reviews, many of the things I’m reviewing I am trying for the first time.
